Policy We are very lucky to live in a conservation zone where birds like kiwi and weka which are rare elsewhere are once again flourishing and we have very few possums due to an active pest management programme. Without compromising your comfort and enjoyment we are trying to minimize the impact we may have on local flora and fauna. Recycling We recycle all plastics, paper, card, glass, metal cans and other recyclable materials. We compost all vegetable and garden waste. Water We are on tank water which comes from rainwater. Whilst we are lucky to have 3 tanks, we normally have very little rain during summer so we still try to conserve this precious commodity. We have planted the garden with native Northland species which require minimal watering. Electricity Where practical we use energy saving light bulbs, automatic sensors line the main corridor and out door areas. We are currently installing solar powered heating in the swimming pool. All laundry is dried outside when ever possible. Chemicals As much as possible our cleaning is chemical free. We also have an eco friendly waste disposal system, only natural materials are flushed down our toilets! Treated water is used to irrigate some of our garden plants.
